BIG Phone lets you hide unused call controls and ask for confirmation before hanging up. If your cheek or hand keeps triggering an action during a call, open Preferences → Phone and adjust that action rather than leaving every button on screen.
You might need only the audio switcher and End Call. Someone who calls automated services also needs the keypad. The aim is to keep the controls you use and remove the ones you repeatedly touch by mistake.
Choose the buttons that stay visible
Set BIG Phone as Android’s default phone app, then open BIG Launcher → ⋮ → Preferences → Phone. The active-call settings include:
- Show Keypad button — keep it for entering digits during a call, such as choosing an option in an automated menu. The in-call keypad requires the full BIG Phone version.
- Show Audio switcher — keep it to change between the earpiece, speaker and connected headsets.
- Show Mute button, Show Hold button and Show Duration button — leave these visible only if you need them.
For a temporary uncluttered view, use Collapse/Expand during the call. It hides every button except End Call; expand again when you need the other controls.
Put a confirmation in front of the accidental action
Enable Ask to end the call if the problem is hanging up accidentally. Tapping End Call then asks for confirmation instead of immediately ending the conversation.
If other controls are also being triggered, enable Confirm all the actions on a call screen. This asks for confirmation for each call-screen action, so it adds an extra step to deliberate actions too.
Adjust for the way you hold the phone
Empty space at top of the Active call screen leaves room between the top edge and the controls. Increase it gradually if your ear or cheek touches buttons: more empty space also leaves less room for the controls below.
Lock the volume buttons stops accidental volume changes while the call screen is active. If gripping the screen edge is the difficulty, Safe borders adds non-responsive margins in BIG Launcher, BIG Phone and BIG SMS, including the active call screen. It reduces the usable area and does not change other Android apps.
Try the controls during a short call
- Call a willing contact with the phone and case you normally use.
- Check that the controls you kept are visible and work, including the audio switcher or keypad if you need them.
- Hold the phone normally. Adjust the top space or borders if the controls are still too close to your grip.
- Tap End Call and check the confirmation. Cancel once, then end the call deliberately.
