Put one WhatsApp conversation on a large BIG Launcher home-screen button. Tapping it opens that chat in WhatsApp, so you reach the right conversation without browsing the Apps list first. WhatsApp remains the place for reading, writing, and call controls after the chat opens.
Choose one contact, assign the shortcut, and check the destination before relying on the button for family messages.
Add the conversation from BIG Launcher
From the BIG Launcher home screen, tap the three dots ⋮ next to the clock and choose Set buttons. Before choosing a button, note that the current free edition lets you customise only the right column. Put this shortcut in that column, or use the full version when the needed button is elsewhere.
- Select the button you want to use.
- Choose External shortcut.
- Select WhatsApp Chat, then choose the contact.
Return to the home screen. The button should show the contact’s photo, and tapping it should open that contact’s conversation directly in WhatsApp.
Use the WhatsApp shortcut when it is not listed
If WhatsApp Chat does not appear in the External shortcut list, create the pinned shortcut from WhatsApp and then assign it:
- Open the BIG Launcher Apps list and start WhatsApp.
- Create a new conversation or open the existing conversation with the contact.
- In WhatsApp, use ⋮ → More → Add shortcut.
- Choose the BIG Launcher screen where the shortcut should live, such as the Home screen.
- Open Set buttons, select the button, choose External shortcut, and scroll to the bottom of the list.
- Select the pinned shortcut for that WhatsApp conversation.
Continue in WhatsApp
When the button is tapped, WhatsApp opens the selected conversation and keeps its own message composer and call controls. Use those WhatsApp controls for messages or calls after the chat opens; BIG Launcher only provides the home-screen shortcut.
Check the contact and destination
- Tap the new button and confirm that the correct contact’s conversation opens in WhatsApp.
- Return to BIG Launcher and tap the button again to check the same destination.
- If the direct shortcut was not listed, repeat the check with the pinned shortcut created through WhatsApp.
